Cody Drug Store

Show Globe Apothecary Counter Herbs Counter Show Globe

From the early 1880's until the 1950's, most pharmacies would hang or display a show globe in the window to identify the shop as a drugstore - as barber poles were once used to signify a barber shop.  Inside the show globe, the druggist would add colored water by mixing chemicals together to give the globe beauty.  These globes still hang in the Cody Pharmacy, now adjacent to the Town House.
